Electronic Dream Lounge 2010

And now introducing my Movement Project’s debut of “Electronic Dream Lounge” from Sunday night’s Raise The Roof Benefit Concert @ CSULB.

To everyone involved – an infinity of thanks. I am so proud of everyone – you all MOVE me and are all rock stars in my book! Thank you for inspiring me and for keeping me motivated to do what I do. Personally, believe it or not, the past 10 Tuesday evenings and the entire process in general, has been extremely therapeutic for me. To be surrounded with hard-working dedicated people, good vibes, amazing choreographers, feel good music and to still maintain a laid back atmosphere was exactly what I needed to keep me “sane” from all the stresses and personal obstacles that life has been giving me lately. I hope you all have left feeling proud, refreshed, trained in new areas/styles, appreciative to new music, and feeling just a bit more “groovy”. As long as you all had fun, then I know I did something right! Please don’t stop movin & groovin’. I will miss my Tuesday nights with you guys and I hope to share the floor again with you all soon.

Rehearsal #10

It’s funny. The night before our 2^nd to the last rehearsal, I had this dream that I was only able to get through staging and finalizing only ONE piece. Ok so maybe that was more of a nightmare, considering our show is only a week and a half away. Fortunately, that “nightmare” did not come true as everyone put their efforts and energy together, resulting in a very satisfying productive rehearsal on Tuesday.

I am fortunate to be working with the group of diverse talents I invited to participate in this project. I am also very proud of everyone who has been working hard, stepping out of their comfort zone, training in new styles and going through some pretty intense work outs and warm ups to build our stamina each week. The current dancers in the project all have various backgrounds and training. Some are still on competitive teams, or on companies, a few have never been on a team before, some have full time jobs and use this as their outlet for dance, and some actually came back from “retirement” to put back their dancing shoes on again. I am very thankful for their time and enthusiasm. It’s been an amazing journey putting this set together, and now that I look back, the process has been very smooth and rewarding.

After working on each piece top to bottom, reviewing and finalizing staging, we did a few run thrus at the end. After the last run thru of the evening, I definitely felt a sense of relief and satisfaction. I had met my time line and accomplished my agenda goals, and seeing your vision come to life is a feeling you will never forget.

One more Tuesday left to go. Just a few things to fine tune, tweak, polish and then we’re golden. I’m very confident we will leave rehearsal feeling 110%. I cannot wait for the audience to experience our music soundtrack and the energy we will be bringing on the floor. I want our audience to sweat in their seats with us.

Rehearsal #9

Finally learned our last piece of our set! This week’s instructor was ARVIN TABULA (of PAC Modern),  who introduced us to a smooth laid-back groovy influenced piece, a nice breather from the other upbeat pieces of the set. He definitely captured the vibe and feel i was going for with the song i gave him. 2 more weeks!
